How does the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge work? The first phase of the project will begin with a selection of 20 buildings from the municipal, university, hospital and commercial sectors. These 20 buildings will be the front-runners of the challenge and set the precedent for participants in the years to come. The Atlanta BBC team will work with the owners of these 20 buildings over the next several months to establish an overall protocol for the Challenge, providing incentives such as free building assessments, education and training courses, access to interval data and more. What does an organization commit to? Founding Partners commit to: Provide resources in support of the development of Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge initiatives and projects Participate in promotion and communication activities for Atlanta BBC initiatives Participate in activities of one or more Atlanta BBC subcommittees Assist with engaging Building Participants and Sponsors Building Participants commit to: Publicly pledge a building-specific energy savings goal and develop a plan and schedule Identify a building energy savings project and initiate the project Share utility data with the Department of Energy, as well as information about the tools, technologies, and processes they used implement projects and reach their pledge goal.…

1. How does the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge work? The first phase of the project will begin with a selectionof 20 buildings from the municipal, university, hospital and commercial sectors. These 20 buildings will be the front-runners of the challenge and set the precedent for participants in the years to come. The AtlantaBBC team will work with the owners of these 20 buildings over the next several months to establish an overall protocol for theChallenge, assisting with building assessments, education, project implementation and data reporting. Once Phase One is completed (date TBD), the Challenge will be rolled out to include all organizations interested in participating. Building owners that wish to participate in Phase One of the Atlanta BBC are requested to submit their registration by November 30, 2011. The Atlanta BBC has dedicated a team to benchmarking and measuring progress toward goals.
